MechVolt Power Secures Landmark Deal for Island Electrification Across Southeast Asia
MechVolt Power is proud to announce that it has been awarded a major contract to design, manufacture, and deliver 30 containerized diesel generator sets for a large-scale government-led infrastructure project in Southeast Asia. The contract, valued at approximately USD 18.5 million, represents one of the largest orders in MechVolt Power’s history and underscores the company’s growing reputation as a trusted provider of reliable power solutions in the Asia-Pacific region.
Project Background: Powering Remote Islands
The project is part of a broader national initiative to upgrade electrical infrastructure across several remote island communities. Historically, these islands have relied on aging, inefficient, and environmentally unsustainable power sources. The government’s electrification program aims to provide stable, round-the-clock electricity to over 200,000 residents, supporting economic development, healthcare facilities, educational institutions, and critical communications infrastructure.
The scope of the project covers power station construction across multiple islands, each with unique geographic and logistical challenges. MechVolt Power was selected following a competitive tender process that evaluated technical capability, delivery timelines, after-sales support, and proven track record in harsh tropical environments.
Technical Specifications: Cummins 500kVA Containerized Generator Sets
Each of the 30 generator sets is built around the industry-leading Cummins QSK19-G5 diesel engine, delivering a prime power rating of 500 kVA. The units are housed in purpose-built 20-foot ISO containers, engineered for durability, noise reduction, and ease of transportation. Key features include:
Each unit is equipped with an advanced remote monitoring system that provides real-time telemetry on generator performance, fuel consumption, load distribution, and environmental conditions. An automatic load management system ensures optimal efficiency by dynamically adjusting generator output based on real-time demand across the island grid.
Contract Value and Delivery Schedule
The total contract value is approximately USD 18.5 million, inclusive of equipment supply, installation supervision, commissioning, operator training, and a two-year comprehensive warranty with preventive maintenance coverage.
Delivery is structured in three phases over an 18-month period:
- Phase 1 (Months 1–6): Delivery of the first 10 units to the northern island cluster, including site preparation support and commissioning of the primary power stations.
- Phase 2 (Months 7–12): Delivery of 10 units to the central island group, with parallel installation of fuel storage and distribution infrastructure.
- Phase 3 (Months 13–18): Final 10 units deployed to the southern islands, along with integration of the centralized monitoring platform and handover of operator training programs.
